BlephEx™ treatment for blepharitis

What is BlephEx™?

BlephEx™ is a new, in-office procedure provided by eye doctors for the treatment of blepharitis.

What is blepharitis?

Blepharitis is chronic inflammatory disease of eyelids that usually happens where the eyelashes grow. Blepharitis is characterized by inflamed, irritated and itchy eyelids. It can be uncomfortable and unattractive. Anyone can get blepharitis at any age, but the prevalence increases with age. As we get older, we make fewer natural antibodies in our tears that normally fight the bacteria that is thought to be a cause blepharitis.

How does BlephEx™ work?

BlephEx™ works by reducing scurf and bacterial debris, the main causes of inflammatory lid disease, and it improves the overall health of the eyelid. BlephEx™ allows patients to enjoy a life free from the chronic and irritating symptoms associated with blepharitis. The BlephEx™ treatment is well tolerated by the vast majority of patients and only takes a few minutes to perform in the doctor's office. BlephEx™ has financial benefits for the patient. It can allow the patients to save hundreds of dollars in the costs of prescription drops and artificial tears which may otherwise be used to manage the symptoms of blepharitis.
